Where did you
create this artifact? The “Enterprise Report” artifact was created during course ICT 702
Seminar in Information and Communication Technologies. This report was created to fulfill one of
the project requirements needed for successful course completion. My Academic goal with this report was to discuss
at least five issues at an enterprise’s organizational or operational level
related to information and communication technologies that seem to foster
growth or accentuate difficulties. What I Learned,
How did you learn this? One important ICT enterprise topic I learned while researching
sources and analyzing data for my report was that the Android mobile phone
market is growing at a faster rate than the Apple App Store, and that the
Android mobile phone system allows users and developers to modify and
customize their mobile phone experience to meet their needs. These facts lead me to the conclusion that
the easy development of application for the Android may be one of the driving
factors in its successful adoption. Why this is
important: The public first introduction to the iPhone occurred in 2007 at a
$599 price point. At that time, the smart phone technology seemed to be too
expensive for large-scale adoption.
Competition in the industry has driven down the price of this
technology making it accessible to hard working families. With a 2-year activation plan, you can
purchase an iPhone today for $299. ICT
hardware manufacturers who lock down their technology so tight that third
party development can be difficult often end up losing market share to
competitors with lessor technology but easier development platforms. The Betamax VCR lost out to VHS and early
version of the Apple Mac PC lost out to IBM compatible PC clones. How can you apply?
I will look for low cost, open source, and industry standard ICT
products and services to offer to our customer base to ensure that regardless
of financial status the opportunity and access to new technology is not
limited to only the most affluent customers.
I will avoid proprietary ICT solutions that rely on a single vendor
for support and development options. I
will analyze the financial risk of ICT early adoption and consider the impact
on the organization if we choose to wait for new ICT to mature and become
more accepted throughout our industry and customer base. What challenges
& obstacles did you overcome? Conducting research and analysis on 5 separate topics was a
challenging task presented by our instructor.
My process for overcoming the challenge was to choose topics of
interest to me personally or professionally so that I would not lose
motivation to accomplish a significant amount of research needed to form
thoughtful and scholarly analysis. I
use the project as a
opportunity to increase my knowledge in areas I had some prior experience in
while also choosing some topics that where new to be but inspired me to want
to learn more about the topic. |
